Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) in Columbia, SC

Overview

What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty removes or repositions excess skin, muscle, and fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids. It’s designed to open up tired, heavy-looking eyes and restore a rested, alert appearance without changing the character of your face.

Dr. Leppard’s approach prioritizes results that are refined, balanced, and true to each patient’s natural features. During your consultation he takes the time to understand what you want to achieve, then explains every option, tradeoff, and realistic outcome so you can make an informed decision.

To learn whether blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is right for you, the best next step is a personal consultation.

FAQ

Blepharoplasty frequently asked questions

How long does blepharoplasty recovery take?

Most patients return to work and normal activities in about 1 to 2 weeks. Bruising and swelling fade over the first few weeks, and results continue to refine over 2 to 3 months.

Will eyelid surgery leave visible scars?

Incisions are placed in the natural crease of the upper lid or just below the lower lashes, so scars are typically well hidden once healed.

Can blepharoplasty be covered by insurance?

Upper eyelid surgery may be covered when sagging skin blocks your field of vision and this is documented by testing. Cosmetic eyelid surgery is not covered. We can help you understand your options at your consultation.

Can eyelid surgery be combined with other procedures?

Yes. Blepharoplasty is often combined with a brow lift or facelift for more complete facial rejuvenation.

This information is general and does not replace a medical consultation. Individual results vary.
