About Dr. Leppard
A calling discovered in the field
Dr. W. McIver Leppard grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, the same city where he now practices. He attended Heathwood Hall Episcopal School before earning his B.S. in Biology from Wofford College, where an unexpected opportunity would set the course of his career.
During college, Dr. Leppard traveled to Tanzania, East Africa to conduct AIDS research for the CDC. It was there, working in a resource-limited environment far from home, that he discovered his calling for medicine, face to face with patients whose lives depended on the quality of the care they received.
He spent the next twelve years in Charleston at MUSC, earning his medical degree, completing a residency in General Surgery, and finishing a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship. Along the way, he was recognized repeatedly as an outstanding teacher.
Today, Dr. Leppard brings that same approach to every consultation. He listens carefully, explains thoroughly, and never rushes a decision. His results are known for being natural and refined, the kind that leave people looking softened and refreshed, simply like themselves again.

Outside the OR
Dr. Leppard is married with two daughters. When he's not in the practice, you'll likely find him on the water, he's an avid boater, kiteboarder, and fly fisherman, or working in his garden. He remains deeply connected to Columbia, and has served on the Board of Visitors at MUSC and the Board of Trustees at Heathwood Hall. He was also chosen as a Torch Bearer for the 1996 Olympic Games, a distinction awarded to those who demonstrate achievement, inspiration, and service to their communities.
